“Life is a bowl of cherries. Some cherries are rotten while others are good; its your job to throw out the rotten ones and forget about them while you enjoy eating the ones that are good! There are two kinds of people: those who choose to throw out the good cherries and wallow in all the rotten ones, and those who choose to throw out all the rotten ones and savor all the good ones.”

Isn’t it funny how life can be likened to a bowl of cherries or a box of chocolates? Well, I have to agree. And in terms of this blog, I’ve got to say that there are people out there who are true cherries, or as the older saying says, “the salt of the earth.” These flavorful people are the passionate and positive people online who’ve helped take my blog to a whole new level. Some have been mentors and coaches, while others have been cheerleaders and encouragers. I’m listing them down here.
If you’re a mom who needs motivation for your blogging journey, or even your work/WAHM life, then I highly recommend you follow these ladies online.
Alison Lee: As a writer, I’m inspired by other wordsmiths who have a talent for narratives and anecdotes. Alison is a fellow World Moms Blogger, but I only recently started to follow her blog earlier this year during her SITS day. If you need a day-to-day dose of prose and inspiration, do add her blog Writing, Wishing to your blog roll.
Kelli Nelson: Kelli is one of the most talented writers I know on the blogosphere. She writes real, poignant pieces on her blog, The Sweetness of Life, and is a fabulous contributing writer to Felicity Huffman’s (of Desparate Housewives) website for moms, What the Flicka. Her candid anecdotes about the imperfectionism and reality of motherhood are always punctuated with humor. She and I have become great online friends.
Ruth Wong: Ruth is a fellow WMB-er and international blogger who’s based in Singapore. A freelance writer and work at home mom (like me!), Ruth and I immediately hit it off. We started exchanging emails, but I was even more moved by her writing on her amazing blog. Check out her Mommy Cafe for tips and inspiration.
Toni Tiu: I recently met Toni for the first time, over tea and endless chatter with some other work at home moms here in Manila. Toni is the author of the well-known blog, Wifely Steps, which I’ve been following for quite some time now. She writes from the heart, with passion… and that’s what is so addicting about her blog.
The WAHM Divas:
Holly Hanna: She’s the work-at-home woman and the owner of the award-winning business blog for WAH professionals, The Work at Home Woman. Holly became my personal WAHM coach for a month earlier this year, and I learned so much from her mentoring. She’s been one of the most motivating cheerleaders I’ve ever had online!
Prerna Malik: It’s so refreshing to find a fellow Asian and fellow WAHM online, and Prerna is at the top of my list of “go-to” experts on being a work-at-home mom. Follow her blog, The Mom Writes , for smart solutions on how to be the best work-at-home mom you can be. (Stay tuned for my Mom Bliss Interview with featuring Prerna, soon on the blog!)
Jennifer Burden: Jen is the gracious, compassionate lady behind the World Moms Blog. When I first “met” Jen online, I instantly felt a connection with her and her heart for mothers all over the world, a connection I hadn’t felt since I was in a global school environment in my student days. If you want to be inspired by the stories of other mothers from around the globe, do check out the World Moms Blog. There’s a bit of Jen’s heart in every entry, as you’ll soon see.
Joy Tan-Chi Mendoza: Joy is one of the sweetest, smartest people you’ll ever meet. Her blog, Teach with Joy, is a positive, authentic and spiritual conversation on intentional, biblical parenting and home-based education. I’m fortunate to know her personally because of my involvement in the homeschooling circuit, and I can tell you that she lives and breathes passion and positivity.
The Business Bliss-Builders:
Marie Forleo: When I decided in the early part of this year to begin taking my blog to the level of an online business, I knew that I had to follow Marie Forleo. She is one of the most successful women online, and she has built a vast online business that is dedicated to empowering other women in business. Her weekly Marie TV business videos are an amazing and positive resource for women who want to succeed in establishing their online credibility. Do make sure you subscribe to them!
Lara Galloway: Lara is the expert in mombiz. She’s not called the Mom Biz Coach for nothing. Her website is a gold mine of resources and support for mothers who want to run a business, and her weekly Twitter chats #mombizmondays is a wonderful online meetup of some of the most inspiring mompreneurs around the world. She can support you in creating a flexible mom-run business that works for you. I can’t summarize mom-bliss any better!
Janice Villanueva: She is the mom-expert here in the Philippines, being the founder of Mommy Mundo, the Philippines’ most extensive portal of mom and family-focused resources. I’ve been fortunate enough to call her a friend, someone who has personally taken the time to advise me on matters of business, work ethic, even parenting. I truly look up to her.
