Ton and I recently celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary, and to celebrate our special day, we booked a weekend stay at our favorite hotel in Tagaytay, Taal Vista Hotel. We always love going to Tagaytay, because it’s close enough to Manila, but far off enough to feel like we’re really on a break! For this particular weekend getaway, we availed of their weekend package, and booked a spa date as well.
The warm staff of the hotel were too sweet — look at what we found in our lake view room as soon as we checked in!
We were booked in a beautiful premiere room in the Lakeside Wing of the hotel. This is the side with the best view of the main attraction, the Taal Volcano. (I have actually never been to the volcano, would you believe? We see it every time we book a stay at Taal Vista, and I still haven’t seen the amazing site, which is incidentally one of the world’s most famous “lake-within-a-lake” phenomenons. OK, enough general knowledge/trivia for now.)
Here’s the other side of the premiere room. Last time we stayed in this type of room, Vito stayed in the single bed near the window. But we didn’t bring Vito along this time around — yay! Hahahaha! (No, I’m not a bad mother — this is our wedding anniversary getaway, after all, right? So the kid has to stay the with grandfolks, LOL.)
The Lakeside Wing of Taal Vista Hotel offers the best view of Taal Volcano.
We arrived just before noon on a Sunday, and had a leisurely lunch after we checked in. Lunch was at Josephine, a Tagaytay classic resto serving Filipino food, but I guess I was so hungry that I forgot to take any photos, haha! Anyway, Taal Vista had better views to offer. We spent the afternoon taking a stroll through the grounds, with ample time for photos on the main lawn, of course!
I love how they’ve kept this lawn and the Taal Volcano viewing deck! It’s just the way I remembered it looked in my childhood days. Nostalgia always sells, and the viewing deck has it in spades. It’s the best place for photos. Here are some Ton snapped with my Canon 100 D.
Hahahaha! This is why I married him. For moments such as these. LOL. (Not. Not really, babe.)
A romantic getaway at the Taal Vista Hotel is never complete without a spa treatment at their award-winning Asmara Spa. It used to be called the Ylang-Ylang Spa back when Ton and I were newlyweds, when it was still under its previous management. Now under SM Hotels, the spa is still world-class. I always love getting body treatments and therapies here! I always feel so pampered and taken care of.
We booked our East-West massages (the spa’s signature relaxation massage) for around 9:30PM.
The spa, I suppose, was also informed of our anniversary — so they spruced the place up a little.
Ahhhh, indeed. Sweet!
The East-West massage is suuuuuuuper relaxing. We both feel asleep, actually, hahaha! Ton’s comment was that the masseuse was very knowledgable and precise, and I have to agree. We’ve been to our fair share of local spas and have tried massages everywhere (well, as long as the place is nice, OK?), and Asmara Spa has consistently delivered high quality massages each time. Zzzzz….
Life is a lovely, laid back and slow pace at the hotel. The next morning, we really just lounged
I could actually just sit here and eat all day. Haha.
Here’s breakfast. Well, part of it! I had a plate of meat before this champorado. (Don’t judge.)
See? Told you one can never get enough of this viewing deck. Aside from the
awesome view of my husband amazing view of the Taal Volcano, it’s a great place for photos. We took so many more, but I chose the ones I liked for this article. Heehee. Doesn’t my husband look awesome?? #thatslove
Before we checked out —and thanks for the late checkout, Taal Vista! — we sampled the gorgeous lunch buffet at the Cafe Veranda. The food is one of the reasons why we enjoy staying at Taal Vista. It’s consistently good and reasonably priced for hotel food. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets have satisfying choices, though it’s best to get to the buffet early so you get the food at its freshest.
Thank you again, Taal Vista Hotel, for such a pleasant stay. Our anniversary getaway was simple and relaxing, just the way we like it. We can’t wait to return for another weekend. (Actually, I kinda wanna do a bloggers’ retreat here. What do you guys think?) Thanks also to our dear friend, Celine Arellino, Annie Luna of Guest Relations, and of course, Chef Edwin Santos for our meals! Til we meet again!
