I was going through my camera the other day, and I found this photo of my Krista during the last Spectrum Fair Manila, which was held Valentine’s Day weekend. We spent our entire weekend there, as a family! It was an important weekend for our little band, because it would be our new business’s — Shophouse Coffee Co.’s — first ever popup. We were excited and a bit nervous for how everything would turn out! Here are some shots of our little booth, which was in a nice little spot facing the dining & lounge area.

Our brand, Shophouse Coffee Co., makes specialty coffee beverages, like these, our bottled Cold Brew Coffees.

For Spectrum, we served a menu of Cold Brew drinks, each with a twist. (Our Iced Mocha was hands-down the best-seller of the cold drinks!) We also featured our “slow bar,” where we used a variety of hand-poured coffee methods to brew people’s orders.

That’s my husband, Ton, who is co-founder of Shophouse Coffee Co (with yours truly). I’m so proud of how he’s been steadily growing our little coffee business! (Mwah.)

Thank you, Spectrum Fair, for a wonderful first popup experience! Our small business really benefited from being at the fair that weekend. Not only did we get to put our brand in front of our target market (it’s a great crowd that comes, by the way), but we also learned so many things about our business: what to improve on, what worked, which products were a sure hit (and those that didn’t click). It was a great time and place to learn the basics of running a small business.

I can imagine the other merchants also felt this way!

Pottly ‘n’ Tubby

Jarheads’ preserves and jams (I just love the packaging!)

Laura’s Yard, a line of meaningful household and kitchen products (I hoarded on these castille soaps)

Maison du Chef, which makes artisanal pantry goods and staples, like these handcrafted broths.

Of course, being Valentine’s weekend, Te Amo Floristeria was there taking orders and also selling fresh blooms.

A new organic apothecary brand, Esther 2:12, which is owned by some good friends of mine. Love, love, LOVE their beautiful products, which are designed to make any woman feel pampered from head to soul.

Another gorgeous brand I love, Body Food All Natural, whose products I’ve been using for over a year now.

Aside from all these brands, the thing I love about Spectrum is the community it has built among merchants. It’s normal to come out of Spectrum with new friends who are also passionate small business owners and entrepreneurs. Even though I wasn’t in the thick of things (I had to take care of our kids, of course), I was able to meet so many inspiring entreps who were manning their booths and excited over their businesses.

We were recently at the press launch for Spectrum Fair’s latest run, which is this May 14-15! (This weekend!) I’m happy to announce that our little coffee company will be popping up again, serving our cold brews and specialty coffees (yay!).

For Spectrum Fair Manila’s SUMMER EDITION, you can expect the same high-quality, beautiful brands that you’ve seen and loved in previous editions of the “indoor-outdoor fair experience.” Enjoy a truly unique “shop & lounge” atmosphere, beautifully styled booths, live acoustic performances, and tons of great food, fashion, and lifestyle finds.
